It also financed the export of jute from India and sugar from Philippines (Bean 2012). Target market and Positioning The target market in HSBC is the customers who are belonging to the age group of 18-30 years. It has reported that the individual within the age group of the youth has the propensity to save more as compared to the elder people. As per the recent trends, the young people are giving up their luxury life in order to save more. The age groups between 18-30 years are saving the largest proportion of their income as compared to the other age groups. As result, HSBC targets the individuals belonging to this age group. They are the customers of the target market for HSBC. The more these individuals will save the more it will be beneficial for HSBC (Yu 2014). It also targets the obtainable customers of the bank from the Personal Banking, possessions and savings and Personal funding Services through open market attainment bases their creditability. The customer base is compounded by HSBC while intensifying the revenue. The revenue is mainly intensified within the obtainable customers by augmenting the spending on the card. The groups of customers who share an identical set of requirements as well as needs belong to the market segment. Market segment helps in organizing and serving the exclusive segment by helping the administrator to find out the best marketing. The market segments are easy to get to, assessable and large enough in order to be worth targeted by an organization. In order to segment a market it is important to focus on the demographic and the environmental segmentation. Figure : The HSBC (Source: The Week UK, 2016) The act of scheming the contribution of the company and the representation to engage a distinguishing place in the minds of the target market is positioning. The data derived from the SWOT and the PESTAL analysis of the HSBC facilitates the marketers to describe the links between the point-of difference as well as point-of-parity. The points-of difference are those advantages that are related by the customers with the brand. They are positively assessed with a competitive brand (Jo 2012). Micro and macro environment The microenvironment factors are those factors that have a direct impact on the success of the organization. The factors, which are external as well as out of control and influence, the decision making of the organization is termed as the macro environment. The macro environment mainly contains the factors as well as the variables, which are outside the trade, which has both positive and negative influence on the expansion as well as the continued existence of the trade, which encourages the achievement of the objectives (Bosdriesz et al. 2012). The macro environment forces that affect HSBC are as follows: Environmental factors the environmental factors include the increasing concern related to globalization as well as the insufficiency of raw materials and the effluence targets. As a result, it has become vital to view an industry as a principled as well as a sustainable company. There has been increasing demand, which is coming as pressure from the end of the customers to source ethically and form a sustainable reserve (Martins et al. 2014). Political factors it measures the degree at which the government intervenes in the economy. The political factors that affect the HSBC are the taxation policies, labor law, environmental rule, excise as well as political constancy. Economic factors HSBC must enhance an understanding of the economical surroundings as the economic states of affairs of the country have an impact on the factor prices within the particular organization. Wages, inflation, GDP, rate of exchange are the factors that affect the economic macro environment (Sonenshine and Kraft 2015). Social factors these factors affects the standard of living of the individuals. The factor includes religious conviction, family, demographics as well as distribution of age and the living circumstance. Technological factors the way HSBC is developing a perceptive of the rapidly rising technology is taken into account by the technological factors (Gendron 2013). Figure 2: The Macro Environment (Source: Marketing Audit, 2014) The micro environment forces that affect HSBC are as follows: Competitors the competitors of HSBC are the Citigroup and the Barclays. So, it is important for HSBC to compare its rate of interest and the online features of banking with its competitors. It should also compare the level of customer service provided by its competitors. Public individuals are that group o which HSBC relies to succeed in the market. However, these individuals are not personified as one. These individuals can be directly or indirectly associated with the HSBC bank. The individuals includes the customers as well as the shareholders an also the media. Consumers the existing consumers enjoy the loyalty scheme offered by the HSBC bank. This reward is given by the bank as a gift for being a part of the organization. The bank not only offers new schemes to the probable consumers but they also offer a huge diversity of banking financial credit in order to make their bank appeals to as many customers as possible. Figure 3: The Micro Environment (Source: Environment, 2015) Consumer Perceptions and Behaviour To maintain a stable relationship with the customers it is very important to focus on the perception of the customers. The satisfaction of the customers results from the comparison of the expectations of the customers proceeding to purchase with insight after a purchase. A bank is a financial institution that helps an economy to grow. The opportunities in the banking sector have taken place due to globalization. In order to get a clear perception about the customer towards HSBC the following survey needs to be taken into consideration. The questionnaire should include the L/C opening cost, the processing time of the document, financial support, trade relation, any extra facilities, placement of the bank, level of contentment, risk associated with the trade and the overall contentment. L/C Opening Cost the relationship managers determines the L/C Opening Cost which in turn creates great impact on the customers. However, the volume of transaction also determines the L/C Opening Cost. Figure 4: The L/C Opening Cost. (Source: Hsbc.co.uk, 2016) From the above diagram it can be stated that most of the customers agrees for the L/C Opening Cost. With the help of this cost, the customers will be able to decide whether they want the bank account with HSBC or not (Parves 2013). The processing time of the document as per the perception of the customers, the processing time of the document is accurate. Reliability on the Security System Reliability on the Security System Yes A little bit Never Total No. 44 23 6 73 Percentage 60.3% 31.5% 8.21% 100 As per as the perception of customers regarding the online security system most of the customers are in the favour of the security system in HSBC. About 60.3 percent of the customers feel that the security system by HSBC is required for safe online banking (Wong and Wong 2015). Figure 5: HSBC bank online banking Survey (Source: Sasse 2015) The above diagram shows the level of satisfaction of the customers associated with the HSBC bank online banking. It can be seen that 8.21 percent of the customers are highly satisfied with the online banking facility of HSBC. However, the rest of the 46.57 percent are only satisfied (Krol et al. 2015). Marketing Mix The set of four decisions, which needs to be taken into consideration before launching a new product, is known as the marketing Mix. The four variables of marketing mix include the product, price, promotion and place (Borden 2015). Product As far as the product under marketing mix is concerned, product is the first variable of the marketing mix. The company should deal with the fact that what is the product they are selling as well as the quality of the product. Price the pricing of product mainly refers to the cost that is put for the product. Product it mainly refers to the item that is essentially being sold. The goods, which are sold, must deliver a minimal level of performance. Place if the customers finds it easier to buy the product then in that case, it will be convenient for the customers and this is where place plays an important role. Product: Personal banking the wealth management services, the retail banking, online banking as well personal loans are included under this category. Personal banking also includes the international credit that is available in two varieties that is classic and gold. The banking services are provided by the bank round the clock through a widespread ATM network (Davis 2016). Economical planning services the services offered to both the inhabitants and the non-residents of the country are termed as the economical planning services. This service includes the stock broking procedure as well as the insurance services and the investment prospects. Corporate banking HSBC shares a corporate relation with the domestic banks as well as the foreign banks. The service provided by the bank includes the financing of capital, corporate deposits, business facilities, syndications and organization of cash (Tambe and Mehta 2015). Trade banking the bank is known to provide trade vantage and account related to business to the small and the medium size business unit. The services provided by the bank to this business are doorstep banking and phone banking. Assets and capital markets this include the imitative in major coinage, money market and foreign exchange. Protection and clearance this includes the services such as the distribution of finance, the distribution of unit and the management of cash. The Marketing Mix of the HSBC Place in the marketing mix HSBC is the largest bank in the world in the capacity of assets and also in order to operate productively. HSBC has almost 6600 branches in at least eighty five countries. There are innumerable banks in different countries under diverse names but they have been branded jointly. With the aim to spread its broad network, the bank had expanded its branches all over the place. Various monetary and banking services are provided by HSBC to its international customers. HSBC is mainly set up in that location where it is able to offer the best probable services as well as execute its services effectively (Pavlou and Stewart 2015). The ATMs under HSBC are located at the tactical locations in approximately all the main positions so that the customers are easily pleased with their services. Skilled security guards are employed outside the ATMs in order to protect the customers while they are making the transaction (Luo et al. 2015). Price in the marketing mix The pricing policies of HSBC are subject to change as the bank is in a competitive market. The pricing policies changes as per the trends in the market well as the policy changes of its competitor. The policies are subject to invention at each level and any time period. In order to avoid the competition, HSBC has implemented the insistent pricing policy which in turn involves the achievement through obtainable funds (Gordon 2012). HSBC has played a dual role in the constituent of pricing in order to fix its policy of pricing. The company thought of attracting the customers firstly so that the customers can buy the various products and services that are offered by the bank and produce the revenues later on. The maximization of profits, survival policies, personal aims and the social considerations are the factors that manipulate the policy of pricing. The pricing policy is varied and dynamic for various goods and services (Huang and Sarigll 2012). The pricing for services such as that includes the current account have become fixed as the bank does not require any fees for the opening of the account. However, the bank depends on the interval of time in which the money drifts in the bank between the transactions. HSBC charges a very small amount for the credit card scheme in order to draw more customers. Under the pricing policy there is hardly any demarcation that can be put into practice. Promotion in the marketing mix HSBC has decided to implement an extensive promotional strategy in order to create understanding about its bank and the variety of services it provides. HSBC used advertising to create the understanding s it was the best tool that can be used. The advertisement was placed regarding the HSBC bank on the newspaper as well on the business magazines (Gupta 2013). The advertisement of the bank was related to the information of the bank that mainly emphasized on the product and services that is offered by the bank (Goi 2015). People in the marketing mix In spite of having the advancement in technology, HSBC requires the direct communication between the customers and the employees of HSBC. The interaction is required because it helps in strongly influencing the customers. It is highly important for a bank because the workers working for the bank are mostly the first line of contact with its consumers. This element is very crucial and important in the marketing mix and that is the very reason to meet this variable it important to give a particular attention to the training of the workers by taking into consideration the present account package. The concept related to the prepaid card also requires attention as its main objective is to the change of the position related to HSBC, which in turn concerns about the psychology of expenditure (Gordon 2012). The training should be mostly given to the employees of HSBC as they are directly involved in the package of present account. The back office staffs or the employees should also be little aware about the concept. This is done in order to ensure that the bank has an overall idea about the commodities and services provided by the bank. Physical evidence in the marketing mix The physical evidence comprises of the tangential evidence that mainly deals with the possession of the customers. However, it has little self-governing value as compared to that of the indispensable evidence, which has the independent value but is not possessed by the customers. The prepaid card is the tangential evidence in this case; however, the indispensable evidence includes the branches of the bank, the cash machines, placards and the flyers (Jackson and Ahuja 2016). Process in the marketing mix Under the marketing mix, the variable process mainly focuses on the mechanism which in turn helps to deliver the service. The service includes trade policies for the stipulation of service and the degree of automation. A test needs to conduct by bank employees in order to determine how effectual and well-organized the front line employees are (Barrett and Weinstein 2015). Conclusion and Recommendation It can be concluded that HSBC targets the individuals belonging to the age groups between 18-30 years. It can be recommended that the age group mentioned above should continue their method of saving. It is also concluded that the market position of the credit card can be strengthened with the help of marketing mix. The credit card that has been designed by HSBC mainly satisfies the demand of its customers. HSBC charges a very small amount for the credit card scheme in order to draw more customers. Wages, inflation, GDP, rate of exchange are the factors that affect the economic macro environment of HSBC. It can thus be recommended that the marketing mix of HSBC should be maintained well. The product and services should be maintained and also the price that is the loan facility should keep with a lower rate of interest. The place should also be in the right position that is the bank should be located in the place, which is easily available to the customers. References Assignment Point. (2016). Group and Innovators Organization Management †MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the Group and Innovators Organization Management. Answer: Introduction: Every organisation has its strategic objective goals, which it wants to achieve, the only way to do so is by aligning goals of individuals in accordance with the organization. Hence it becomes extremely important to evaluate what the team needs and wants to achieve. In absence of any achievement, the organization and the individual would be moving in different direction with no synergy what so ever between the team and the organization (Hu Randel, 2014) Checking information on a current team member or a potential member is important to analyse and understand his role, his interest in the job and his efforts in the path of innovation. If the member is not open to innovation, he can never work on implementing new things and will bring no newness on the table Cross fertilizing ideas is as important as brainstorming, it brings more ideas in the company and at the same time develops an environment of constant innovation. One members idea can be a breeding ground for another idea from another team member and so on (Blum, 2016) Differences are bound to be in the team, owing to culture, race, caste, social circle etc., but these differences should not come in the way of productivity of the team. Hence, respecting every individuals views, suggestion would make them feel empowered and they would contribute more towards the success of the organization. Relationship between the employee and the employer has to be cordial and based on the fruits of loyalty and trust. Thus it is important for the employer to involve the employee in setting of ground rules, because employees are the ones who will have to follow that conduct, and if they are involved in the process right from the start, they would adhere to them, as they literally signed for it. Members follow their team leaders, hence the ways leaders adopt to communicate or do a task, and the same will be done by the team members. Hence, if the managers want the team to have deep roots of innovation, it should start right from them(Bain Kleinknecht, 2016) Share tasks and responsibility increases the accountability for the job and also helps in optimum utilization of the skill and resources, thus sharing and agreeing on tasks are really important to increase the productivity. Thinking helps in bringing innovation and radical ideas on the table, Challenging activities makes the employee perform at his best levels and collaboration helps in team building and synergy in the team Every individual works for him first, hence if we reward him on a personal basis and recognize him that motivation will stick with hi for longer duration. One should model behaviour that supports innovation because it is the building stone for innovation in the company. A company focussing on strategically innovation needs the leader to lead from the front, hence very important. In order to support innovation , the top management should be radical with their thinking and must have a risk appetite to challenge the existing system External ideas or stimuli gives motivation to the existing team, the work previous thought leaders have accomplished is something the employees look forward too, hence in motivational terms it is really important. Steve Jobs (Apple), have given inspiration to millions, the wave of innovation started after his breakthrough innovation in the field of technology. Hence, drawing inspiration from the thought leaders helps them to focus more strongly on their goals (Wellner, 2015) Information sharing, knowledge and expertise with other team members will make them feel trustworthy, confident and at the same time able to learn. Learning is a continuous process; hence, this will help them in immense learning. Another useful aspect of learning is, it helps in identifying the skill set one requires to have for fulfilment of his individual goals, and also try and understand the viewpoint of the leaders or the managers in the company. Testing and challenging idea is a part of B-testing, it helps to identify the gaps or lacunae in the ideas or the process, hence, extremely important to test and challenge the ideas. Another advantage is, it helps to improvise the idea. Discussing ideas gives more clarity on a particular idea or a topic, and helps to brainstorm further. The first step to innovation is keeping your mind open and discuss endlessly, working in a coherent atmosphere provides breeding ground for more innovation and better learning (Li, 2013) The team has really come together after implementing the new ideas and clear cut objectives laid down for them, debrief has helped them immensely in understanding the requirement of the organization and the managers. Reflection on activities helps to understand and measure the process. Its very important to look for inspiration from outside; it helps in learning about the fault and also provides a great insight on the quality of work or the idea. The opinion is non-biased and hence a better platform to learn. The clear cut benefits of discussing the challenges of being innovative in a constructive manner is important, as it helps to ascertain the difficulty in the road ahead, it helps team to have a fair understanding of the challenges, and also gives them a sense of responsibility that they are working towards something radical and something which has not been there in the first place, it provides a sense of accomplishment (Yeh Walter, 2017) As answered in the earlier questions, taking ideas for improvement helps big time in identifying the future challenges, which can help in building long term or futuristic strategy and in turn helps the team to pick the lead and work. This helps in stopping the process of reinventing the wheel every time. Innovation is a term which has hugely become popular in the last decade or so, hence celebrating it is important in order to create a community and also set examples for other. Successful innovation motivates other that nothing is impossible, with the team work, right direction and a determination to do something new, innovation can be achieved. Ian Lucas Essays (863 words) - DraftNoah Cronbaugh,

Ian Lucas 5/01/17 HLT 110 Courtney Dowell FINAL REFLECTION ESSAY At first the only reason I took this class was because it was what I needed to take for my degree. My girlfriend Rachel took this class with me because we wanted to take at least one class together because even though we went to same high school we never took a class together before. I thought I would dread every Tuesday and Thursday, waking up at 7 AM getting ready for my 8 AM class, carpool with Rachel and listen to the instructor lecture to us about our health but I turned out to be wrong. Courtney Dowell you are one of my favorite professors I have had the privilege of being a student of, and I really hope that you work full-time in the near future because you really deserve it. You have inspired my girlfriend Rachel and I in what you teach and you're the only class that I think I will ever enjoy taking early in the morning. Your passion speaks great volume, and the way you make everyone's input feel important without skipping a beat truly speaks on what kind of person you are, y ou are definitely meant to be a college professor. With that being said I have enjoyed many of our discussions, mini papers, and assessments that we did during the semester. My favorite health topic that we discussed was on the different levels of stress that we talked about around the first couple of weeks. It was something I related to because I have anger issues that I control to the best of my ability and I use some of the coping methods that we learned as well. I also very much enjoyed talking about healthy and unhealthy relationships, it was very interesting to see Jack debate with this other girl for a good five minutes on why women should leave instead of staying in the abusive relationship. I honestly thought this was going to be the most boring class of all time, but it instead was just bunch of people who are extremely different from one another that eventually got to love each other by the end of the year. I knew this was going to be a class where you had to do your work to pass, and study a little hard for your test to p ass but I didn't know that I would enjoy every second of it. I will miss everything about this class, I will apply everything I learned from stress management, ways on saving the environment, ways of preventing of STI's, improving my spiritual health, checking the food I'm eating, and setting goals for myself. A project that I think you should consider is have the class document they're journey on setting healthy goals for themselves and them going through with it, and have it be a 2-3 page paper. It would also be cool if you give the students an option to present their journey of achieving their set goals because it will not only make the students feel good about themselves but it will make the students live a healthier lifestyle. I believe the "Concepts of Personal and Community Health" should be a general education course because it is something that I feel everyone has to know in their life. This course goes more in depth in health than any of our health classes in high school, middle school, or elementary school. College students need to know the importance of checking our nutrition, taking our wellness assessment and setting goals to improve in certain areas of their life. Taking this class most definitely has opened my eyes to how I'm living my life, it was a huge wake up call, it s omething that every college students deserves to know, how to live our life healthy, and productively. To summarize the entire semester it started off with an awkward forced hello to every classmate saying hello to everyone with a huge smile when walking into class. To being sleepy all through the morning, to being full energy and filled with questions that we so desperately wanted to ask Professor Dowell. I think it all changed because of the passion we

Comma After Introductory Phrases

Comma After Introductory Phrases Comma After Introductory Phrases Comma After Introductory Phrases By Maeve Maddox A reader asks why there is no comma after the introductory phrase in the following sentence from one of my recent posts: At a recent writers’ conference I heard a successful self-published author say, â€Å"Readers are not looking for great writing; they’re looking for a great story.† I formerly put a comma after every introductory word or adverb phrase of any length, but I’ve begun leaving it out unless I think its absence will create reader double take, as in the following: Before eating the members held the business portion of the meeting. Below the cars covered the lawn. Until the morning fishing is out of the question. These introductory phrases demand to be set off: Before eating, the members held the business portion of the meeting. Below, the cars covered the lawn. Until the morning, fishing is out of the question. Authoritative recommendations vary. An online grammar site sponsored by Capital Community College in Hartford, Connecticut states: It is permissible, even commonplace, to omit a comma after most brief introductory elements - a prepositional phrase, an adverb, or a noun phrase. The Chicago Manual of Style also indicates that the comma after an introductory adverb phrase may be left out: An introductory adverbial phrase is often set off by a comma but need not be unless misreading is likely. Shorter adverbial phrases are less likely to merit a comma than longer ones. The Purdue Owl also advises that the comma after some introductory elements, such as â€Å"a brief prepositional phrase,† may be left out. Unlike some of the other sources, the OWL gives us a clue as to what we may consider â€Å"brief†: â€Å"a single phrase of fewer than five words.† But while some authorities condone leaving out the comma if no confusion can result, others caution discretion as the better part of valor: The Longman Handbook: Sometimes the comma after an introductory word or word group is required; sometimes it is optional. When you are uncertain, stay on the safe side: use a comma. Penguin Writer’s Manual: Even where there is no real danger of confusion or absurdity, it is usually better to insert a comma than not. And our own Precise Edit: Use commas even after short introductory descriptions for consistency. As with whether to use the serial comma in a list of adjectives, writers have a choice regarding the use of a comma to set off an introductory phrase. Business Law - Form of Business Organizations in US - Essay Example Was DRI responsible for pierce’s day to day behavior and activities, thereby making it vicariously liable for the actions he subsequently took? The court found that the master/servant relationship is distinct from the employer/employee relationship. Within the context of the former relationship, there exists a right and responsibility to control the behavior of subordinates but not so in the case of the latter relationship. DRI does not have the right or responsibility to control the day to day activities of its employees, especially when they occur off-premise. I concur with the court’s ruling. DRI can not be held responsible for actions which Pierce undertook off their premise and, indeed, does not have the right to intervene with or control any employee’s off-premise actions. Furthermore, the incident for which the plaintiff is suing the defendant was instigated by a prior relationship which the plaintiff had with the employee and is unrelated to the place of business. In other words, DRI is not, in any way, a party to the conflict between the defendant and the employer and cannot, therefore, be held vicariously liable for the shooting and the lifelong injuries subsequently suffered by Kerl. Although DRI is not responsible for the incident in question and cannot be held vicariously liable, the Pierce case highlights the imperatives of management’s focusing on the behavior of employees who have a criminal record or have just been released from prison. While management could not have physically restrained Pierce and forcibly prevented him from leaving the premise during his shift, it could have been more articulate in its clarification of the employee-employer relationship and precisely what was expected of Pierce. There is a clear incentive for employers to ensure that their employees’ behavior positively reflects on the company and, at the very least, does not negatively reflect on its

Consumer Culture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words - 1

Consumer Culture - Essay Example The Lexicon Webster dictionary defines the act of consumption as "to destroy or expend by use; to destroy as by decomposition or burning." Consumerism thus suggests a wasteful, unnecessary act that follows the use, and so spawned a culture that is based on luxury not need. The luxuries of consumer culture become more than simply goods but "appear as markers of social status or moral decay," Stearns, P. (2001) observes. What bothers social and behavioral scientists is that consumerism is animated by exactly the same objects of luxury and non-essentials. This has characterized the movement of consumer culture from its origin in the West to its worldwide spread that matched the rapid pace of globalization. Many are therefore asking: Is consumerism making the world too homogeneous From the beginning, consumerism grew in the West precisely out of the desire for luxury and vanity, not necessity. It is believed that aristocrats and noblemen in the old British empire, France and parts of Italy and Germany started it all as they sought ways to avoid the stench from markets and factories back in the18th century or earlier when public sanitation and garbage disposal systems were yet to be developed. When it was raining or the sun was ablaze, the old-world people wanted cover and comfort when they stepped outside. They then came up with the earliest specimens of consumer goods: bathroom soaps, perfumes, umbrellas, handkerchiefs. These came along with the earlier forms of consumerist leisure, notably restaurants, coffeehouses and resorts. The Americans later picked up the idea to set off what became known as the second stage of consumerism, giving birth to the department store as the new venue for consumption. As the department stores competed for the favors of the gr owing consumer market, advertising emerged as the chief apparatus of consumerism. With the advent of mass production and the free market concept in the early 20th century, consumerism really took off with the coming of new consumer goods (automobiles, bicycles, food) and consumer leisure (movies, spectator sports). Consumer culture also became an integral part of celebrations like holidays, birthdays. Stearns, P. (2001), who looks at the development of consumerism as one of the greatest changes in the human experience, puts forth the theory that the consumerist society came into being in the 18th century "through a complex web of factors, including an increase in wage earnings, a desire and opportunity to emulate the rich, and a need for goods of value to compensate for the coordinates of identity lost with the passing of a stable, rural way of life." This jibes with the modern sociological view that man is by instinct a creation that desires to be in the swim of things, to look successful and lavish. As Western culture brought consumerism along in its spread to all parts of the world, consumers everywhere behave in basically the same manner: they buy goods that they don't need for subsistence but as a means of "demonstrating modest achievement in new ways." The goods themselves come from the same mold, identical in every
